Christian Bretscher is founding president of the Rotary Club of Zürich-Üetliberg. The first Rotary Club was founded by a Chicago lawyer in 1905. Since its inception, members of the Rotary Club have been volunteering their professional expertise in the service of others.

He is a member of Mensa, an association of people with an IQ over 130 with the goal of furthering contacts and research in the field of human intelligence.

Since 1996 Christian Bretscher has been a member of the guild Kämbel, one of the 13 historical groups that was established with the enactment of Brun’schen Guild constitution in 1336, ushering in the trade guild era.
